Display Shelves: Something New for 2009
The display shelves are made using solid boards each having some very interesting grain. I have cut all of the boards on my bandsaw mill and utilize some of the live edges on these pieces.
Below are some photos of a few that are currently on display:

Apple
This display shelf was made from an unusually tall apple tree, nearly fourteen feet tall before the first branches. It was salvaged from Third Street in Boiling Springs, PA, on the property of Mike and Marion Rayeur.

Spalted Sugar Maple
Made from a large Sugar Maple tree that grew along Linn Street in Bellefonte. The spalting occurs if the wood remains wet and begins to decay. The zone lines often appear as dark and defined lines along with irregular discoloring. Spalting can happen in many woods but is most often seen in the different Maples.

Sofa Table
The top is made from two pieces of Silver Maple with the live edge, and some very curly figure in the wood. The base is made from a salvaged piece of iron railing. This was a joint project between myself and Bridget Donnelly.
